There are numerous attractions to visit during a holiday in Maratea. They range from natural beauty, to the riches of historical and artistic heritage, to places where you can simply spend good times with your fellow travellers.
It is undoubtedly the main tourist attraction in the Maratea area. A destination for numerous tourists throughout the year, it is situated on the summit of Monte San Biagio. At 21 metres, it is second in height only to the Christ of Rio. At the foot of the statue, it is possible to admire a unique panorama that embraces the entire gulf. The road you take to get there is also very spectacular. In summer, it is possible to drive to the car park a few hundred metres from the statue and proceed on foot or by shuttle service.
The Skywalk is one of the latest attractions to open in Maratea. It is located in the hamlet of Cersuta a few steps from our B&B and is a beautiful plexiglass terrace suspended 100 metres above the rocks. From here you can see fantastic sunsets or the stormy sea. A breathtaking experience that may make your knees wobble a little.
is located a short walk from the old town and climbs Mount San Biagio, arriving at the foot of the statue of Christ the Redeemer. There are also 2 Tibetan bridges
The Maratea marina is one of the most characteristic places in Maratea. An almost obligatory stop for sailors passing through the gulf. It is a colourful place where you can have an aperitif, go shopping or stop for dinner in the characteristic little restaurants.
This is a natural cave in the Marina district and can be explored for about 90 metres. There are beautiful stalactites and stalagmites inside. It can be visited in the summer months or in winter by appointment. It is the smallest tourist cave in Italy!
Home to the Museum of Marine Archaeology. The building was built to be Maratea’s first hospital and today houses the perennial exhibition of underwater archaeology.

About 20 km from Maratea, the village is surrounded by beautiful chestnut forests, perfect for a hike in the calm of the mountains. The Trecchina chestnut is used in many ways and in many recipes that are definitely worth trying, such as ice cream! The village is also famous for ‘Pane di Trecchina’, a real delicacy.
Also in the municipality of Trecchina is the ‘Parco Delle Stelle’ amusement park. There are numerous attractions for adults and children. The most characteristic is the ‘Big Bang’, but for the less daring it is also possible to go on excursions in nature.
Elected among the most beautiful villages in Italy, it is located in Calabria, about 40 km from our B&B. Beautiful is its Renaissance palace elected national monument and its alleys where you can get lost in the calm and silence.
Famous for the revolutionary expedition attempted by Carlo Pisacane, it is a beautiful town that is full of events during the summer season. Famous, of course, for the ‘Spigolatrice’ and her statue, which recently caused quite a stir
The largest park in Italy, it covers 56 municipalities between Basilicata and Calabria and has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2015. You can admire fantastic nature, such as the beech forests or the Pino Di Heldreich, the oldest tree in the world!

Another Unesco heritage site, it is located entirely in the province of Salerno and includes numerous places of interest such as the Paestum Archaeological Site, the Velia archaeological area, the Cilento Coast, the Castellabate Marine Protected Area and many museums.
In the municipality of Casaletto Spartano, a few kilometres from Maratea, you can visit the oasis of the Venus waterfalls. The landscape is beautiful to admire and it is very pleasant to walk along the path that runs alongside it.
Also known as Certosa Di Padula, it is located in the municipality of Padula about an hour from our B&B. Declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco. Beautiful are the gardens, the large cloister, and the prior’s quarters. Definitely worthy of note is the helicoidal staircase leading to the library.
Just over an hour away, which can also be reached by train, is the wonderful archaeological site of Paestum. The Greek temples that can be admired are, together with those of Agrigento and Athens, the best preserved to this day. The park covers about 120 hectares
Near the Certosa Di Padula it is possible to admire this place, unknown to most but rich in charm and history. The Baptistery is located on a water spring, so it draws its water directly from the spring.
It is located in the municipality of Ascea about an hour from Maratea. The archaeological area is very beautiful and full of charm. You will be able to retrace the steps of the philosopher Parmenides, of the Eleatic school that originated here.
Heading south this time, about an hour from Maratea, in the municipality of Papasidero, you can visit the Grotta del Romito where you can admire one of the oldest testimonies of prehistoric art in Italy. The most important find is the Bos Primigenius rock carving. The site also contains burials dating back 11 thousand years.
